Swimming in an Ocean of Images – Prof Jason Swedlow – Monday 11th March 2013
In an addition to our published schedule we are very happy to host a talk from award-winning innovator Jason Swedlow.
Every day scientists across the World are producing huge amounts of information and images from their work. It is difficult to store and share all of this data, which may overwhelm the scientists and computer systems. In some cases this may lead to missed opportunities to identify medical breakthroughs.
In light of this, Professor Jason Swedlow and his team at the University of Dundee have developed The Open Microscopy Environment (OME) – freely available pieces of software that aid the sharing and storing of biological image data. Being able to store and share images using this software is helping medics identify the early stages of cancer and other diseases.
Join Professor Swedlow for a discussion on how this world-leading tool is now being used in different countries and its impact on science across the World
Join us at the award winning Chambers Coffee House and Restaurant, 34 South Tay Street on Monday 11th March 2013 at 7pm.
This is a FREE event and EVERYONE IS WELCOME. There is no need to book in advance but arrive early to avoid disappointment.
